Shutter Caps
Shutter caps are included with every shutter panel ordered. Shutter caps will be painted the same color as shutter panels.
Shutter caps are protective inverted U-shaped covers that fits over the top edge of an exterior shutter to protect against moisture damage. It extends the width of the shutter panel and can be painted the same color as shutters. ShutterLand shutter caps are made of bonderized (corrosion-prevention coat) galvanized steel.

Mortise Hinges
Shutter hinges mortise into the side of the shutter and the inside edge of the window casing. Solid iron construction provides authentic function and appearance. See Mortise Hinges

Shutter Dogs
Shutter dogs attach outside of the window casing even with the bottom of the window. The shutter dog rotates horizontally to allow the open shutter to pass, then returns to the vertical position to keep the shutter open. See Shutter Dogs

Strap Hinges

Exterior Shutter Hardware
Window shutter hardware is essential to make outdoor shutters functional. Shutter hinges pivot to allow shutters to swing open and closed. Most shutters require only two hinges, but extremely tall panels may benefit from more. A variety of hinges are offered for most outside window configurations. Mortise hinges, surface hinges, and strap hinges can be used for each unique window.
Shutters dogs are available in many unique designs, including the traditional s-shape, flower, sea shell, grapes, and star patterns. Personalize your home with solid cast iron authentic shutter dogs. An array of mounting methods is offered to attach the shutter dogs to the building.
Shutter bolts secure shutters in a closed position. The bolt slides side-to-side to lock or unlock the shutters. Fasteners also keep the shutters in a closed position. The latch automatically catches the receiver to keep the shutters shut. They are easily opened by releasing the latch and pushing the shutter to the side of the window. Shutter pulls make it easy to swing the panels toward the window.
Bahama stays are rods that push the shutters away from the window. They are easily adjusted to set the angle of the bahama shutters. Bahama shutters are most often found in tropical and coastal areas. Bahama hinges are designed for a top mount to pivot from the top of the window. Bahama shutters can be propped open for greater light and visibility.
Exterior shutters are not required to be function to use outside shutter hardware. Hardware enhances the appearance of the shutters for a much great authentic appearance. Faux hinges and shutter dogs can be used to give an operational appearance.
