All About Exterior Window Shutters
Exterior shutter hardware can be priced and ordered at House of Antique Hardware . Shutter hinges, shutter caps, shutter dogs, shutter bolts, or ring pulls & fasteners are sold online. Select exterior shutter hardware styles and the prices will be listed. Shutter hardware can usually ship quickly to locations throughout the United States and other countries and is usually sold at a discount from other shutter hardware suppliers. Shutter hardware is essential to making your wood exterior shutters functional.
Shutter caps keep moisture from the top of the shutter panel. Shutter caps are sold in the same widths as the exterior shutter panels from 12" to 24". The caps can be painted to match the outside shutters.
Shutter hardware is solid metal and is designed to be functional and visually appealing. Shutter hinges are used to attach the shutter to the house or building and open or close the shutter panels. Shutter hinges are offered in a variety of sizes and configurations. Shutter dogs are designed to hold the shutter panels in an open position. Shutter dogs are mounted using either a lag bolt, plate, or to the sill with an arm. Bolts and fasteners are designed to keep the shutters in a closed position.
Historical exterior shutter hardware dimensions are displayed so that you may select the best hardware to go with your application. Every installation is different. Exterior shutters can be attached directly to your house if they do not need to be functional. Do not mount shutters flush to the wall since moisture can get trapped behind the shutter panel. Whether installed on hinges or not, there must be air space behind the shutter to avoid trapped water. We also recommend that you include a shutter cap on top of your shutters to protect the shutter panel from water damage. Other than that, we make no specific recommendations for installation.
